ALAMOGORDO IMAGING CENTER Y-91 treatment using Radioembolization

New Radioembolization Y-91 Procedure Available at Alamogordo Imaging Center:
Alamogordo Imaging Center offers Y-91 treatment using Radioembolization, to help shrink tumors and stop their growth. Our Y-91 procedure has been used to treat prostate, kidney, liver, pancreatic, and brain cancers by injecting our patient’s tumors with radioactive microspheres that will target the tumor cells alone, sparing healthy tissue and organs. This new Y-91 procedure can be used as an alternative to other treatments such as chemo or radiation therapy.https://xranm.com/locations/alamogordo/

A new radioembolization treatment offered at our radiology center:
Radioembolization Y-91 is a new treatment for obstructing arterial circulation in the liver. Created for the treatment of blood clots, this technique has now been adapted to treat liver tumors. This procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, with minimal discomfort.

How Does This Treatment Work?
Radioembolization Y-91 is a new procedure available exclusively at Alamogordo Imaging Center. This treatment has shown success in lowering certain types of tumor cells, meaning that this treatment may be appropriate for patients with cancers that are not considered operable. The Y-91 radioembolization procedure involves injecting microscopic radioactive beads into the bloodstream that will then attach to cancer cells and kill them by emitting radiation.

What Are the Benefits of Radioembolization?
Radioembolization is a procedure that delivers radioactive particles to your cancerous tumor to stop it from growing. Radioembolization Y-91 Alamogordo is a new type of treatment that targets certain types of cancers in the liver and lungs, such as lung cancer and mesothelioma. This type of treatment is often used when other treatments have failed or are not available. Plus, there are no serious side effects and you can continue your day-to-day life after the procedure – unlike chemotherapy which often causes nausea, vomiting, hair loss, and more.

Who Needs This Treatment?
Radioembolization Y-91 is a new treatment for non-cancerous tumors and cancerous tumors that are inoperable because they are located near sensitive areas or organs. Radioembolization Y-91 uses particles, called microspheres, which contain yttrium-90 (Y-90) to target the tumor. The microspheres are injected into the bloodstream and travel to the tumor where they release radiation on the tumor cells and shrink it. The best part about this procedure is that there are minimal side effects as it doesn’t affect any other parts of your body like traditional chemo therapy might.

Where Can I Get This Treatment?
Radioembolization Y-91 is a new and effective treatment that offers more accurate targeting of tumors. The procedure uses a radiologist to insert tiny needles in the tumor, followed by an injection of Y-90 particles. This treatment can be done in one visit or over time, depending on what the patient prefers.
Radioembolization Y-91 is available for patients with breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other cancers at Alamogordo Imaging Center in New Mexico. Our Radiologists are board certified with expertise in neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, and breast imaging to provide you with the best care available.
